Kathleen Dempsey
About
Kathleen was born in Bendigo, Victoria in 1935 and then relocated to Melbourne where she worked as a telephone operator. Since relocating to Brisbane, she began by making bark pictures then decided to study Art at Kelvin Grove. After graduating with an Associate Diploma of Art in 1983, she followed on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts at Queensland College of Art in 1988, followed on by an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics Brisbane.
She now combines Painting and Printmaking in her art work. Her works are predominately man built architecture including: cityscapes, bridges, railways, churches and street scenes. Built on a passion for creativity, she's developed her skills in a range of different art forms.
Kathleen has held many solo exhibitions and Group Exhibitions, selling many paintings, ceramics and prints in the process. Recently she was a finalist in the Milburn Art Award at the B.I.A Brisbane.
